A Few Letters

Below are a few letters I have been meaning to send out, but because of lack of address and or stamps I haven't...

Dear Costco,
Today I went in to get Paper Towels and a ready made lasagna and left with $79 less in my checking account.  How do I ALWAYS find things I need to buy there?

Until next paycheck,
Janelle

Dear Christmas Haters club,
After being a member for 27 years, I am sorry to say, I have officially jumped on the Christmas Ban wagon.  I will be fa-la-laing and Rocking around the tree a lot this year!

Your trader,
Janelle

Dear Husband,
There isn't much that you won't do for me.  I know that sometimes may think I don't notice or appreciate but I am taking notes.  You're awesome and I am pretty pumped you picked me as your wife.

Your biggest fan,
Janelle

Dear Society,

I apologize for carrying my weight in the stomach region. If you ask me one more time if I am pregnant, I am going to punch you in the face. Keep to yourselves or maybe just ask me about the weather instead.

Love, not so much,
Janelle

Dear People with chicken feathers in their hair,
Why on earth is that popular? You are not cool, nor will I be doing that.  I will save my money thanks.

Sincerely,
Janelle

Dear Sherman,
Every day you crack me up with your personality.  I am glad you ran away from your first home and found us.  Thank you for showing Jeff and I how to not take life so seriously.

Your adopted mother,
Janelle

Dear December,
You are full to the brim with parties, cookie baking, present wrapping etc.  Don't go by too fast ok?
Thanks!
Janelle

Dear Wedding Photographers,
The proofs are amazing.  Now, I just need to figure out how to stick all 500 pictures in one album!  I am not sure how I will EVER choose, but I am so glad I have a ton to choose from.

Thanks for making my week,
Janelle

Two Month Stats

So we have a lot of friends who have babies... by a lot, I mean a TON!  We always get to read their baby's stats month to month.  Since we don't have babies, unless you count Sherman, I thought I would provide you with our 2 month married stats. hahaha

How long have you been married: 2 months today.  Almost as long as most celebrities!

Best part: Not having to plan a wedding and getting to just be a family in the evenings

Most Challenging part: Getting Jeff to keep his ring on his finger!!

Looking forward to: Getting our wedding photos someday.  All we have seen are the few on the blog.

Marriage Advice to single people: No matter how many times you have the "splitting money" talk with your future spouse, you will most likely have problems at the beginning.

A Woman of Leisure

Two months... Two months!!!  Where did the time go?  I went from waiting around for what seemed like a lifetime for our wedding to being married TWO MONTHS!!!

I apologize for the lack of posts since we have been hitched.  I have had two people in the past 48 hours ask about our blog.  Glad to know we have fans. haha  Honestly, I am struggling with what to blog.  Let's face it, the wedding is over, you have seen 1,000 pictures of Sherman and we have no cute kid to show off.  I have been thinking to myself "what do people even have to read?!"  I will find something, and I am sure it will be super entertaining. hahaha

Currently I am just working 2 days a week.  It is just a temp. situation until I find something I want to do.  I like to tell people I am a woman of leisure.  It sounds cool and ritzy if you ask me! haha

Being off three days a week has keep me busy though... Wednesday's I pick up Cooper (Jodi's son) from Day care and we have a couple hour play date!  I am teaching confirmation at our church, cleaning the house, doing the laundry etc.  also to say I am addicted to "pinterest" is an understatement. This website is great!  It has been giving me some great ideas for presents, DIY etc.

Finally, I am going to start sewing!  YUP, sewing!  I need a hobby to fill my wedding planning.  Once I actually get my machine, I will be sewing like mad!  haha  If you have a request, let me know.. =)  I will make sure to post pictures of my finished products.

And no post is complete without a picture.  Recently I went to watch my oldest niece Lily run a cross country meet here in Indy.  Here we are at the end of the race.  I must say, these are two of the 4 most beautiful girls ever :)

So here is the beginning of me starting to blog again.  Sorry again for being MIA for the past two months.

Wedding Week: Day 3

Today we celebrated Sherman's birthday.

We don't really know when Sherm's birthday is because he was a run away.  So we decided his birthday would be the day we adopted him.  This day would be a day we won't be with him, as we are getting married. hahaha  We decided to celebrate this evening.

First, we met up with a new doggie friend.  Our friend Alli has a goldendoodle.  We took Sherman over to her house and the dogs played, and played and played.  In fact, the played so much our puppy is snoozing on the couch right now =)

After that we brought Sherman home.  Jeff was getting out the 24lb bag of dog food I purchased today.  (we don't normally buy that big of a bag, but I had a coupon and got free treats!)  I had opened the bag earlier but kept it in the car.  Jeff didn't realize this.

Enter the next photo...
What else was there to do than bring out the Birthday Dog to help clean up the mess!

HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY SHERMAN!  We are so glad we adopted you.  I can't believe it has been a year!

Wedding Week: Day 2

Wedding prep!

Every bride goes through some preparations before the big day!  I have been doing my fair share of these myself. 2 certain things come to mind.

First of all.  In order for Jeff and I to go on our honeymoon we have to kennel this cutie here.

I took Sherman to the Vet the other day to get his  appropriate shots.  If there is something you should know about Sherm is that he loves him some vet action.  He barks, howls, sings etc the whole time he is there.  It is not a one person job.  I had the day off, so sadly I had to do this myself.  I was a tad frazzled by the time we got back to the vet.  The helper came in and looked at Sherman.  She reached out her right hand.  I thought she wanted to shake hands, but she actually wanted the leash.  I put my hand in her hand.  Her hand went limp and we held hands for about 5 seconds until I realized what she really intended.  hahahaha

The other day I decided to go get a final massage before walking down the aisle.  About 10 min. before leaving, I realized that I hadn't put on nail polish.  I put on my fastest drying polish and headed out the door.  When I get a massage I have to start out on my belly.  30 min later, I turn to my back.  By the time I lay down, I forget about my earlier painted nails.  30 min. into the massage I am asked to turn over.  My left foot is entirely stuck to the sheet.  It makes a HUGE ripping noise as I free my locked foot.  I was just completely embarrassed.

I think it is great to have these stress relievers while I am planning my wedding.

Wedding Week: Episode 1

I realized I missed Wedding Wednesday last week, but I have decided to try and blog everyday this week!  You heard it... Wedding Wednesday ALL WEEK! You're welcome. haha

For the first entry I think I will go with a very important lesson that was learned last night.  There are a lot of 'lessons' we are going to learn I am sure with marriage, but one of them happened last night.

Last week I finished everything wedding related so Jeff and I can just chill and have a fun week together this week.  Last night was game night...

I think the slogan for the game Monopoly should be as follows: "Monopoly, making families fight and cry since 1935."  I must make a confession too.  I have never played the real game before.  I had Jr. Monopoly growing up but in our house, (and I am sure most houses) Monopoly is a very very sore subject.  Since I have never played with my parents, this is what I hear happens.  Dad runs out of money, mom feels bad for him and loans him some money.  The tables turn and dad refuses to loan mom money.  I guess mom ends up getting mad because dad's heart isn't the size of hers.  etc. etc.

Going in last night, I knew of this story.  I made SURE not to 'loan' Jeff any money.  I had houses, money, more money, all the railroads and the houses with the highest rent.  I was living the high life.  There was a moment that Jeff said "well, you look like you are winning, want to call it a night?"  Determined to finish a game, I declined... BIG MISTAKE.  Two wrong dice trows.  I am paying Jeff $1,000 then 3,000, then I land on a hotel with only $50 left and no money to pay him.  The second I land there, I stand up and firmly say "I'm tired!" and storm off to bed.

Fast forward to this morning.  The game is still on the table and I agree to finish.  I mortgage some houses to pay my debt.  Owe him $3,000 again.  He goes three rounds and doesn't hit ANY of my blue properties.  I land on another hotel with only $6. To that I begin to flick all the houses off the board.  Jeff says "So are we finished?" HAHAHA

Being the youngest, him and I, we have to learn how to play games.  After the wounds heal, it is always funny to look back at how tense our games night are.  It is NEVER a relaxing event.  We are both very poor losers so it is a guarantee that someone will be grumpy. We got through and I am sure we will play Monopoly again.  Just not anytime too soon.

Wedding Wednesday

Our wedding is almost in the 14 day forecast!!!!!!!!!! 17 days away and Jeff and I are in agreement that it can't come soon enough =) I don't usually wish days away because I love to be in the moment, but if these next 17 days could fly by I wouldn't be sad!

I have also started dreaming nightly about our wedding.  Last night I dreamt that no one was ready and it was a couple of minutes before I walked down the aisle and I hadn't even taken a shower yet.  I woke up in a sweat! haha

Monday I had my first group helping me get things ready for my wedding.  Now, don't think for one second I haven't had help along the way.  Jodi and I have worked VERY hard on something, but I don't want to spoil EVERYTHING about the wedding.  I shipped my invites to Amanda and she is probably going to send me a bill for her carpal tunnel surgery, hehe and Caroline made the boutonnieres and the girls' necklaces.  So many people have helped, but this is the first group gathering I have had.

I summoned my good handwriting friends to my house for pizza and name writing!  We are having assigned seats and going with my polka dot theme, we have written everyone's name on a polka dot!

Here are the girls hard at work!
After we (and by we I mean them.. I just really watched and made jokes) finished writing all the names we made a game out of double checking to see if everyone was there.  We set them up alphabetically and I read the names as the girls turned them over.  Here we are half way through.  We had so much fun!

Everyone is accounted and has a seat!!

It was super fun to have them over.  I had a horrible day and this turned it around for sure!  Jeff even mentioned later how he could tell I was having fun.

As a side note, the reason I was in a horrible mood was I found out that day I have a stress fracture on my foot and I am currently in a walking boot.  Don't worry though, I have been walking on this foot for months not realizing what it was, so no matter what the doctors say.. I am NOT wearing this thing during our wedding!!

Wedding Wednesday, seating chart edition

I am currently losing steam on this whole wedding planning business.   Don't get me wrong, I have had more fun than I am sure anyone has planning our wedding.  I am just ready to not have a daily plan to make bags, design table numbers or figure out what songs will be at the reception.  I am also really excited to convert our "wedding room" back to our spare bedroom.

This week Jeff and I sat down and did something that I have been avoiding since the beginning of planning... THE SEATING CHART!  I was told I had to do this as to not create so much mayhem at the reception with people trying to find their seats.  People really get their feelings hurt if they are not sitting by the people we chose for them.  It is stressful for the bride and groom when in reality it should be THEIR DAY!

First thing I learned about our wedding... It isn't our day... No matter how much people say "don't worry about what people think, it's YOUR day."  Yeah, well that one day comes and goes and then people hold grudges forever.  Sorry, but I would rather make sure everyone is happy and not make people mad! I get that honestly from a mother who will not be named ;)  It may come off as a bad trait, but actually I am kind of glad I inherited it!  Every trait has it's downfalls, but I genuinely enjoy making people happy and comfortable.  OK enough of that... on to the seating chart...

Below is our seating chart!
Doesn't everyone look like they are having so much fun?!?!
Originally blue meant it was a child, but I ran out of pink so the colors now don't mean anything!

Do you see your name? hehe

Surprisingly, this was extremely easy.  Everything just kind of fell in place and our tables have been filled.  We are still waiting on a couple of people to see if they can come, but other than that, we are finished!  I can't believe we are at 25 days till the wedding... I wonder when it will sink in that I am actually getting married!?!  Right now I still feel like I am playing dress up =)

Wedding Wednesday

Your eyes are not fooling you.. I am actually writing this ON WEDNESDAY!  This past week was a whirlwind of wedding-ness.

First, I would like to show everyone the youngest wedding helper I have had thus far!
During Ethan's nap last week, I started putting labels on all the water bottles for something for the wedding.  Ethan woke up and was more than willing to help out! =)

(Side note: I know everyone is probably thinking "I thought Janelle hated a kid in a diaper.  It really is more when the kid is outside the home or there is a mess load of people at the house.. none the less, this kid is stinkin cute, and wanted to help out! hehe)

Saturday came around and it was Bridal Shower/Bachelorette party time!   A lot of hands came into helping out with both events, but I must give mad props to the master mind behind it all making sure everything came to place and getting everything set up to my one and only Jodi!  It was an AWESOME day!

Every time a kid in the Mueller family gets married, Jeff's dad gives these name plates.  He leaves room for hooks so we can add kids... Well, since we already have a four legged child, Sherman got one too!!!

After the shower we got some pictures with the girls.  Below are my Marian friends.

My soon to be Mother-in-law and my mom... and of course me. haha

My two awesome cousins!  Kelly and Jodi.

Then it was time for the Bachelorette party... two more awesome cousins joined...
I don't know if you notice but they all wore black shirts... not planned, but totally awesome!

We went to a bar that had a bull.  Since I was the guest of honor, I got two free rides!  Here I am following the rules using just one hand.

There was also a LOT of dancing!  I did convince the DJ to play a mesh up of MMBop and NKOTB... who knows.. but it was awesome.

Here I am with my sister-in-laws (minus Marlene)

We had a great time!  Well, I guess I shouldn't speak for everyone, but I sure had a blast!  I was just floored by the generosity and love from all the ladies involved.  I feel so loved!!

Wedding Wednesday!

I have had several "complaints" that I didn't put up the Wedding Wednesday post last week.  It is so  nice to know I have so many loyal readers. hehe

Recently we sent out our Save the Dates.  We sent them on a Thursday and by Saturday we had one in the mail!!!  I was sooo excited! I ran in to tell Jeff...
I just couldn't wait to see who it was!  I opened it slowly....
Matthew, Stephanie, Owen and Eli are coming to the wedding!!!!!!!!!

The next day more arrived...

Some people even wrote little notes on the back of the cards!

It has been so much fun getting those back!!  I get mail every day!  It is a tiny guessing game of who it might be from.  We have also received a blank card.  They didn't write their name OR if they were attending or not.  Luckily, they did put their return address label on them so I sent them a quick email to verify.  I am just getting more and more excited every day for the event!

If you are reading this and haven't sent yours in yet, you better hop to it!  hehe

Anxious for the day Bride over and out!

My weekend...

The reason these kids are wearing the headbands is a secret.  I will reveal this in due time.  I will warn you though, it is awesome!

AHHH I love that face!  Cooper eating Sushi for the first time.

This is a pre curser to 'wedding Wednesday'  so come back tomorrow for the explanation.

Cooper came over and took a swim at aunt Janelle's house!

I may or may not have put him in here, took a picture and then left him.  The jury is still out on that one.

It was a long and tiring weekend. ;)

Dear Mr. President...

Dear Mr. President and Pope Benedict,
Today my fiance mailed our wedding invitations.  I made sure to address one to each of you.  I care a lot about my family and friends, but it would be completely awesome if you were the first ones to reply "yes" to attending our wedding.  Let me know in advance and  I will make sure to have the proper security.

I also know it isn't in the invitations but we are registered at Bed Bath and Beyond, Target and Home Depot.  If you want to go off the registry I will allow it for the two of you.  I would be interested to see what you come up with!  We will also accept cash.  Sorry Benedict, we use U.S. dollars here.

I also only reserved 2 seats for you, Mr. Pres ident, if you would like to bring your kids and even your dog, just let me know.  We can make room!

I can't wait to meet you on 9/10/11

Thanks,
Janelle

P.S. Mr. Benedict?  It cost us $1.80 to send your invitation.  Please please RSVP 'yes'!

A Secret Mission

Jeff had a secret mission to complete Friday! He received this note on Wednesday....
It says "Jeff's Secret Mission July 8"

It was just my way of trying to spice up date night :)  We actually had a lot of fun and Jeff, even though he wouldn't say it out loud, enjoyed the secret mission part of it all!

Our first mission was to go to the driving range and hit a bucket of golf balls a piece!

Here is Jeff sad that the bucket is finished.  One a different note, Jeff changed up his swing a little bit and was hitting much better, so watch out if you play golf with him next!

 YAY! mission one complete!

The second part of the mission was to go to a local burger place that Jeff has been DYING to visit and stuff ourselves silly with burgers, fries and homemade root beer!

Pay no attention to my sweaty-ness.  It was GOOOOOD root beer!

Mission COMPLETE!

Just in case you are wondering, on their menu it says "free bumper sticker upon request"  I asked myself... Why wouldn't I request one?!?!

I would say it was a totally successful mission.  We got home at 7:00 (yeah, we are old) and because of all the greasy goodness, I was honestly in bed at 7:30. It also may have had something to do with not catching up from the 4th but it is still funny that on Friday night my body decides it is time to shut off at 7:30 p.m.  I am pretty sure my 84 year old G'ma Bell was still wide awake at that time =\

Finding me at my Happiest

There are some things that can just make my day.  A text at the right moment, being greeted by Sherman when I get home from work.  Today I discovered something that makes me really really happy.  It is no surprise that I love FRIENDS.  Everything involving the show.  I watched it non stop when it was on.  I always joked that I would even miss a funeral to watch it if I had to. (this was before DVR for sure)  Sadly I have worn out my DVD's over the years.  I know every episode by heart.  This afternoon was no different.  I was working on some crafts in the dinning room and had it on in the background.  Jeff came in from mowing and started watching it.  To me, watching that show is like listening to a CD.  Nothing surprises you, but you find comfort in the familiarity.  Jeff hasn't seen every episode.  I kept catching him laughing so hard at some of the jokes and things that were happening.  I was getting the biggest smile on my face watching someone I love so much fall in love with something that enjoy.  I was just cracking up at Jeff watching the show.  That was definitely the high point of my day!

My Thoughts About E-Readers

I love the library, I love the smell of books, I love talking about books, I love shelving books (when I worked for a library)  My dream job is to be a librarian.  When I was a child, my ideal birthday party was getting to have a sleepover in the library and have random story times.  I used to love reading but have since lost interest.  It's funny how much I love talking about books and starting books, but to get me to actually finish a book is a stretch.  I lose interest, I can't find the time or I lose the book.

For my birthday Jeff got me an e-reader.  This is something I have been really really wanting for awhile in hopes I would read more, but I was unsure if  I would really like it.  I have just finished my first book (yeah yeah it's almost July and my birthday is in April.. I am planning a wedding... cut me some slack! =)).  I have decided that I love my e-reader 99%.

I love that the battery life is so long.  I have only had to charge it once.
I love that I don't have to hurt my thumbs holding a book open.
I love that I can scroll to a word and the dictionary on my device tells me the definition.
I love that I can highlight things and give my opinions.
I love that I can read in the sunlight with it.
I mostly love that it fits right in my purse so I am never left stranded anywhere with nothing to do.

I don't miss see the physical pages and how far I am.  There is a % ticker on the bottom that tells me that
I don't miss only have two weeks to read the book or renew it at the library.

After finishing my first book today I realize there are just a few things I don't like:

I don't like that at the end of the book I didn't get to SLAM the book shut.  I didn't realize this is probably my favorite part of finishing a book.  I would feel very accomplished when I did that.
I don't like that e-readers are hurting the libraries.
I don't like that I can't trade books with friends.  I realize some have the capability of this, but mine doesn't.

All in all I LOVE mine.  I would highly suggest everyone go out and buy one!

Wedding Wednesday

We are in the home stretch of the whole wedding planning!  I think we are at 73 days.  I haven't checked recently but I might be right on the money there!  People keep asking me "What else do you still have to do for your wedding?"  Recently, my answer has been "Nothing, I am really done with everything."  We met with our planner last week and I completely ATE those words!  We still have sooo much to do, but it is all little things that seem like nothing, but when she keeps listing everything it adds up to a TON! haha  I am soooo lucky to have her.  Which leads me to the meat of my post.

I know most of you are already married but if you know anyone (and I know everyone always knows SOMEONE) who is getting married highly highly suggest they hire a wedding coordinator.  If you know me very well, you know that I have been mentally planning my wedding since probably 2002.  I have helped out with many weddings and have looked at a lot of things.  I highly debated if I really  needed anyone.  I thought I could do it myself.  Yeah... totally wrong.

I have spent hours with Marie, making sure we have everything done and SHE talks with the vendors.  A lot of times vendors will work with you time wise etc. if they know you have a wedding planner.  Believe me, I am a witness to this.  I met with the hotel where we are having the reception, before I hired Marie, and they were going to let us in at about 10:00 the morning of the wedding.  My wedding is at 2:30!  I almost had a heart attack.  After Marie talked with them... BOOM the night before we get in to decorate.

Honestly, besides the photographer (because what would you have if you didn't see pictures from the day) hiring a wedding planner was the BEST purchase I have made as far as my wedding goes.  I can't thank her enough for the stress she has taken off me.

Bird Feeder

Last week at my bridal shower I got a bird feeder. We have been so excited to put it up! Jeff put the bird seed in Saturday around 3:00. The birds immediately flew right to it. We were so excited. On Sunday morning we peeked our heads out and saw that 1/4 of the food was gone. I also noticed that Jeff was very messy in putting the seed actually IN the feeder, later to find that it was in fact the birds making all the mess! Last night before bed the feeder was half gone. HALF! What were these birds eating before we put this up?

This morning I was getting ready for work and I hear this weird noise. I absolutely couldn't figure it out. I realized it was coming from the back yard. I open up the back door to discover a duck has waddled up to the side of our house and was talking to all the other birds enjoying their morning snack. He must have had a lot to tell them because he didn't stop quacking for sometime. Finally he finished his story and waddled away.

Right before I left for work, I took Sherman out to go potty. I open the backdoor and feared for my life as 6 birds flew away from the feeder in fear.

I think it is safe to say the bird feeder is a hit for the birds. We may have some adjusting to do.

Wedding Wednesday (On Thursday)

This past weekend I had my first of 2 wedding showers. I have been to a LOT in my day but never had one myself. It was very different. It was like Christmas, but Santa only decided to give me presents and sat me in front of everyone to open them.

Here are some things I learned about myself. Every gift I open I say "OOOOH" and I make a TON of random faces.

Exhibit A:
Exhibit B:

I really should have looked into acting as a career. haha

So many people joined me on the special day! Here is a picture of everyone that was left at the end.

I even had some surprise guests! Maya came all the way from D.C. to attend the shower! That meant so much to me! Britni, a friend from high school, came as well! I was in shock to see both of them.

When I started out opening presents, I sat by the gift table. Some people at the shower couldn't hear. I moved three times! haha

As I was opening presents there were gifts being passed around every time I said "oooh." Which was quite a lot!

Here is a picture of me with my Gessner girls!

There are typically a "no boys allowed" policy at bridal showers, but we let a few slip in ;)

This picture was taken for Lyle!

How could a girl say no to this face?!

I just love all my little "nephews" to pieces! I wasn't really in charge of my camera so my other cute boys Cooper (who frequents the blog the most) and Kayden were not able to be captured. It doesn't mean I love them ANY less!

Getting ourselves some delicious food!

Jode at the table in the front.

My shower was a shoe theme. Mom had found tons of black heels and used them as the center pieces. It was really cute!

How many of your can say your had a Candy bar at your shower?!?! I did! It was so yummy!

Isn't my mom just the best shower planner? And she is also getting so skinny!

My mom had lots of help from lots of her friends! She really does have some great friends.

I came home with a car FULL of goodies to show Jeff. We had so much fun putting everything in our house and making it more of a home. Thanks to everyone who helped, came and gave such thoughtful gifts. It was so much fun!
